I did several of the things on my "like to do list" from yesterday. I spent some time knitting, I listened to Barry Manilow music on my ipod, I read some of my new book on John Smithson, and I am still on my trip. 20% in one day isn't bad, especially since I am so new at this.
I also did a lot of thinking about random acts of kindness. At church yesterday I happened to encounter a homeless woman in the lady's room washing the hair of her two young daughters. I was afraid that they would be asked to leave and was pleasantly surprised when instead an older member of the congregation brought in cookies plus milk and juice from the coffee hour supply. I was proud to be a Christian. Then I started thinking about one of my favorite sayings ... "sometimes it is better to ask forgiveness than permission". I think I should attempt to perform at least one random act of kindness every day.
